THE CASE FOR JOJOBA OIL

THE CASE FOR JOJOBA OIL

WHAT IS JOJOBA OIL

Jojoba oil is procured by pressing the seeds of the jojoba plant, a shrub that is native to southern Arizona, California and Mexico. The oil has been used for centuries – early Spanish explorers recorded that Native Americans were using the oil for cosmetic purposes over 400 years ago.

We source our organic jojoba oil from farms in California and Mexico that are careful and avoid using harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.

WHY DOES ROUTINE USE JOJOBA OIL

Jojoba oil is excellent at clearing up sebum on the scalp, which can build up over time and damage the hair shaft and even kill the hair follicle. In addition, jojoba oil is full of vitamins and minerals (like Vitamin B, Vitamin E, and zinc), which can provide a hydrating effect on the scalp.

Finally, jojoba oil is rich in polyphenolic antioxidants, which allow it to scavenge multiple types of free radicals before they damage skin or scalp.

That’s why we use jojoba oil in every bottle of Routine Shampoo and Routine Conditioner.

THE SCIENCE

Studies have documented that jojoba oil improves the feel of skin by providing a material and long-lasting hydration effect. Chemically, jojoba oil is similar to sperm whale oil and can penetrate the scalp’s protective film in order to hydrate the scalp from within.
